Route 66 at Q Bar
Dublin's longest running weekly social swing night at Q Bar on Burgh Quay on the south side of the Liffey by O'Connell Bridge.
Every Wednesday, The joint reverberates with the sounds and sights of all things swing. There are drop in classes from 7pm til 8.45pm and then the joint jumps to fabulous swing, jazz, blues and lounge music.
The Beginners Swing class is at 8.00pm til 8.45pm – this is a drop in class and ideal for people who have never tried swing dancing before. Each week we take you through the basic rhythms and show you some moves to get you dancing.
After a couple of months in the 8.00pm class, you’ll be itching to try something new. And this is where the 7.00pm – 7.45pm class comes in handy. In this class, we’ll take you beyond the basic rhythms and moves that you have learnt previously, and broaden your Swing dancing repertoire. We’re calling this class “Beyond the Basics” and recommend you do a couple of months of 8.00pm classes before moving up to join us. Like the Beginners class, this is a drop in class.
The cost of each class is included in the €8 entry price for Route 66. Do stay on after the classes to enjoy the social side of learning to dance – have a drink at the bar, enjoy the music, practice your moves.
The 8.00pm class is ideal if you've never danced swing before - you can turn up any week, and don't need to bring a partner to dance with.
The teachers for the classes and the DJs for the evening alternate. In the spring Jamie will take the helm 24th Mar and 31st March, 14th April, 21st April, 28th April, 12th May. Jessica will take the helm 10th Mar, 7th April, 5th May.
