The Hep Cat Club

A weekly swing night in Dublin every Monday in the upstairs bar of 4 Dame Lane. Fun, friendly and relaxed with regular guest DJs playing a range of fabulous swing, jazz, jump jive, blues and lounge music from 9pm til 11pm. Entry is €8, including beginners swing class.

Our last night in 4 Dame Lane will be Monday 15th March. The wonderful Long John Jump Band will join us on that night to ensure that the joint is rockin.  After a break over Easter, the Hep Cat Club will be moving to a new location starting on the 26th April 2010. Stay tuned for more information.

The evening kicks off with a Beginners Swing class from 8.00pm til 8.45pm – this is a drop in class which means that you can start when you want. You don't need any experience to join, and you can come on your own or with a partner. Each week we start from scratch, taking you through the basic rhythms and show you some cool moves to get you dancing.

The cost of the class is included in the €8 entry price for The Hep Cat Club. There's no need to book your place. Do stay on after the classes to enjoy the social side of learning to dance – have a drink at the bar, enjoy the music, practice your moves. The beginners class is on EVERY week.

We'll be in the upstairs space of 4 Dame Lane, which runs parallel between Dame Street and Exchequer Street. Access to upstairs is in through the downstairs bar and up the stairs at the back. It's on the same lane as The Stag's Head pub. You can find it in box N49 of this map

7.00pm - 7.50pm - drop in "tap jam" with Jessica Peel-Yates to 15th March.  The idea behind this session is to give people a chance to pick up or share a few tap steps. Each week we'll explore a few tap rhythms. The €8 cost of the jam includes entry to the Hep Cat Club later.
